S
tudy French culture, language, literature, and art in Miami University's 41st annual "Intensive French Study in Dijon" program offered by the Department of French and Italian. This summer workshop is for advanced undergraduate and graduate students. Earn nine hours of Miami University credit while living and studying for five weeks at the Université de Bourgogne. Students work in small seminar style classes with an emphasis on discussion and engaged learning in French. Four weekly excursions are tied to classroom experience and emphasize experiential learning. Invited lectures by intellectuals from France, the U.K., and the U.S. enrich the program. This year's program is scheduled to run May 27 - June 29. Dijon is a beautiful small city located among rolling vineyards in the historic heart of Burgundy, just an hour and a half from Paris and two and a half hours from Geneva, Switzerland. Once the great capital of the Duchy of Burgundy, Dijon possesses a rich artistic, literary, and culinary tradition. Like Paris, Dijon offers a wonderful variety of cultural activities (cinemas, concerts, plays, art exhibits), yet in the setting of a smaller city that students come to know well during their five-week stay. Students live in dorms on the campus of the Université de Bourgogne, a short (15 minute) walk from the city center.  You may fulfill up to half of the French undergraduate requirements for minor and up to almost one third of the French requirements for the major, depending on previous courses taken. See http://www.units.muohio.edu/frenchitalian/node/56 for program details, deadlines, and contacts, printable program brochure, printable application form.
