The Math in London program is recommended for students interested in mathematics at Miami University. While studying in London, students will receive credit for two courses (MTH 411 and MTH 425) can count toward a thematic sequence or major or minor requirements in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Engineering, and which will also satisfy Miami Global Perspectives requirements. The program enriches the standard content of Mathematics classes by gaining global perspective. Students learn about connections of Mathematics to history, culture, and the modern world. Britain is the birthplace of some of the most famous mathematicians in the world such as Turing, Newton, Lovelace, and Cayley. With its numerous museums and exhibitions, London is a n ideal destination for students studying mathematics. Students will explore the mathematical collections of British museums and visit places where Newton, and other mathematicians, worked. This four-week study abroad experience will include ample time for personal travel and exploration. Classes will meet four days a week in the morning and afternoon so that students can plan excursions over longer weekends. Students will be housed in shared apartments and will have access to local transportation.
