The Preceptorship in India program is designed for pre-healthcare students at Miami University. It provides significant, in-depth, first-hand healthcare experience in Bengaluru (Bangalore), India at the St. John's National Academy of Health Sciences. During the 3-week preceptorship, students will spend time in rural, urban and hospital settings as they shadow physicians. Students would have a faculty mentor assigned by St. John's, and the focus of experience would be in rural health, infectious disease and ER. Students would be housed in the campus guest house, and they can get a meal card for the campus canteen, and breakfast and dinner options
are plenty just outside the campus.

In addition, this program can be used by Global Health minors to satisfy the off-campus experience component of GHS 401: Global Health Experience.  Note: Off campus experiences must be pre-approved with applications submitted by the deadlines of Nov. 1st and April 1st. Students are encouraged to discuss off-campus global health experience ideas with Dr. Flaspohler, the GHE Advisor.

There is a very tight timeframe for application, as this opportunity just became available, and we need to identify and submit the names of applicants to St. Johns by November 7, 2018.  In addition, you will need a valid passport at the time of application, as we will need to submit a copy of your passport along with your name.  Passports must be valid for at least six months upon entering India.  Enrollment is limited to 5 students.

In order to participate in the Mallory-Wilson Preceptorship Program, you must meet the following qualifications:

  1. Student must have completed at least one academic year at Miami University
  2. Completed one year of general chemistry
